A LETTER FROM OUR FOUNDER
When I started Aphrodite, I wasn’t trying to build a cannabis brand.
I was trying to hold onto a feeling.
It was the feeling of sitting outside in the Hudson Valley with people I love, passing something around, laughing about nothing, talking about everything. The feeling of realizing that a small, shared moment could be more meaningful than anything flashy or loud.
Cannabis was part of those moments, but it wasn’t the point.
Connection was.
As Aphrodite began to take shape—with the help of incredible partners —I became obsessed with a question:
How do we make cannabis feel less like a product and more like a moment between people?
Not intimidating. Not clinical. Not transactional.
Just thoughtful.
That’s when the Star and Moon Filters were born. I kept hearing customers ask budtenders which pre-roll was for energy, which one was for sleep, which one was for laughing with friends versus curling up with a blanket.
I realized we didn’t need more words. We needed simpler language.
Stars for brighter, social, creative moments.
Moons for softer, reflective, cozy nights.
A tiny detail. But one that makes choosing feel intuitive.
Aphrodite has always been about those small choices that shape a night: lighting a candle, putting on music, opening a window, sharing something good.
I’m endlessly grateful to the Hudson Valley community that helped build this brand—from our retail partners to the budtenders who believed in us early, to the customers who told their friends about Aphrodite and made us feel like part of their lives.
We’re still small. Still learning. Still trying to get every little detail right.
But if Aphrodite helps create even one beautiful moment—one long conversation, one unexpected laugh, one peaceful night’s rest—then we’re doing what we set out to do.
